Three qualities inherent in each human being according to ancient Hindu scriptures

Do you know the three qualities inherent in each human being according to ancient Hindu scriptures?

Ancient Hindu books say the Universe is made of three basic qualities or ‘gunas’ that are intangible. These are Sattva, Rajas and Tamas. The qualities are imperceptible but together determine the character of a person. Sattva is the quality of beingness and is closest to divinity where the person is spiritual, content and forgiving. A Tamsik person embodies darkness and is characterized as lazy, greedy and attached to worldly matters. It is the most undesirable of the three qualities. The guna of rajas denotes activity and is what brings about action depending on whether a person is more tamsik or more satvik.
