Impressed with the penance of Angarak, Lord Ganesha appeared in front of him and asked him to express a wish. Angarak asked Ganesha that his only wish was to be associated with Ganesha’s name forever.
As that was a Tuesday and Tuesday is the favorite day for Angarak, Lord Ganesha granted him a boon that Sankashti Chaturthi which falls on Tuesday will be called with his name as ‘Angarak Chaturthi’.
Since then, Sankashti Chaturthi of Tuesday became ‘Angarak Chaturthi’.
